The most concrete movement this cycle belongs to Mandan, where a wastewater treatment improvement project appeared on the priority list for the first time at rank #244, with a requested amount of $114.2M. Wahpeton also appeared on the list for the first time, its treatment improvement project listed at rank #107 with a requested amount of $85.0M. Both are categorized under wastewater treatment, a category that carries $604.9M across 71 projects on the current roster.

Elsewhere, Flaxton climbed in priority rank to #34 for a water main, gate valve and hydrant replacement project with an estimated cost of $986K, and Maxbass climbed to rank #36 for a curb stop and gate valve replacement project estimated at $600K. Both are listed under Drinking Water SRF, and both sit within the broader watermain and distribution category, which spans 147 projects valued at $440.2M on the current list.

Looking across the category rollup, collection and sewer work remains the largest single category by both count and value, with 225 projects totaling $1.1B, more than double the value of wastewater treatment and nearly two and a half times the value of watermain and distribution. Stormwater follows with 64 projects at $461.3M, water treatment carries 34 projects at $337.4M, and lead service lines account for 49 projects at $151.7M. The concentration of value in collection and sewer work, alongside the scale of the Mandan and Wahpeton treatment listings, suggests wastewater infrastructure is where the largest dollar figures on this roster are currently concentrated.

The SFY2026 Clean Water SRF and Drinking Water SRF documents, as adopted, do not state why any project entered, exited, or moved rank on the list. What the numbers show is that the fundable range and the IUP roster itself shifted considerably between the SFY2025 and SFY2026 cycles, with the $846.4M in new listings representing a substantial share of the $3.1B currently tracked.
